Todays Thoughts...

LOVE

WILL

NOT

 LET YOU FALL......

War Room

I watched this movie a few weeks ago and I was meant to publish this post long ago but surprised I haven't done that yet. Its a MUST WATCH especially if you are a christian. No movie has inspired, challenged and stirred me as this movie did. It actually got me praying instantly. In fact I prayed to sleep, prayed in my sleep, and was still praying when I got up. Lets not take things that happen in life for granted, that's a gimmick from hell. Hell has got its strategy, and the Christians agenda to defeat that strategy is nothing but prayer. This weekend, take time out to enjoy and get challenged and did I mention it was in the box office for quite a while? Oh Yes!! "To win the battle, You have to have the right strategies and resources because victories don't come by accident"

Be Nice!

This is my true experience also all the stories on this blog are true. I don't just write stories, I relay life experiences...

My younger brother was having some challenges with trying to move home and finally over the weekend, he calls me and says he's finally seen something that he likes and has decided to settle for.
He had a meeting with his new landlady to be and as they talked through the contract, she just asked him a few questions about his family. My brother is an expert in giving close answers and he just goes my sister is in the  country as well. For some reason, she goes "What is your sisters name?" And he responds Elly Eleanor hahahaha(I laughed because, Eleanor is not actually my surname, my brother however has a stiff upper lip, but I never knew the brand name Elly Eleanor had captivated him. Hehehe).

Now when he responds "Elly", she mentions the company I work for, the branch I am located and the position I occupy. And she just screams for joy, picks up her phone and she's screaming joyfully as she speaks to me over the phone Wow! Now the full story is that I work in the financial sector, I offered financial services to her, and then she made sure I met her brother because she just fell in love with me *winks*( you guy's will have to wait for that bit of the story! hahaha). I also offered professional services to her brother which before they met me, proved impossible for a long time. She got me to meet her son and even her parents though I wasn't able to, meet her parents due to time constraint. And now she was going to be my brother's landlady?? Small world indeed!

Lessons to note;
We all have our secular jobs, but its not just about, the job you do, the wage you earn, or the bonus that drives you to go above and beyond. But its really about the person in front of you or the people with you, the way you connect with them, understand them, the genuine empathy you feel and your willingness to help because its the right thing to do not because there is a reward you desire. Because no matter how hard you pretend, people can see through you and people will always connect with a genuine person. So be genuine and most importantly, 'BE NICE'

Secondly, everyday we pray and expect miracles, but miracles don't always suddenly happen from outer blues. Your next miracle is the person beside you. How would you treat the people you meet today, if you knew that tomorrow, you will be needing their help? The landlady screamed when she heard my name and rang me instantly. You need to hear the excitement in her voice as she goes"Elly you cant run away from my friendship any more" Lol!. Lesson there is build bridges, not walls...

Thirdly, love people for who they are. Let your first name be so powerful that it becomes synonymous with the word 'NICE'. And most importantly be genuine! Yes!! Integrity will always take you places. This was really the highlight of my day today. In this day an age, where a lot of people always have an agenda for being nice/ doing a good deed, be the 'Difference'.

Current Read

Last September, I was in New York for a few days, and you know what happens in New York, lots of shopping. But of all I bought, the most valued asset I purchased was a book I bought in Hillsong church. Live Love Lead
This book is amazeballssssss, so practical, relevant for the contemporary christian and has a high dose of godly motivation.  I practically have all the pages marked and in fact I am reading it gently so that I can practically and prayerfully benefit from its content
If you can, get yourself a copy. Don't invest in all the name brands this year without investing in good books. X

Elly's Thoughts....

That point when I am reading the account of Joseph and His brothers, and I cant help but meditate on all the suffering, the hate, the bitterness, hard-work, faithfulness, God's favour, purpose and plan and finally, the prestige and honour that comes with faithfulness and dedication! God's plan always prevails. Don't let go!

Elly's Thoughts...

Dont Boast!

‘Because God was so gracious, so very generous, here I am.’

1 Corinthians 15:10

If you’ve been blessed with success, read these words from Paul and take them to heart: ‘Because God was so gracious, so very generous, here I am.’ Every good thing you have right now, plus every good thing you’ll enjoy in the future, comes from God. Try never to forget that! You say, ‘Wait a minute, I worked hard for this. Don’t I deserve a little credit?’. Yes, you do; the Bible says, ‘Give honour and respect to all those to whom it is due’ (Romans 13:7 TLB). But praise by its very nature can be intoxicating. The human body is a remarkable piece of chemistry; pat a man or woman on the back – and their head starts to swell! Someone said ‘Praise is like perfume; if you consume it, it’ll kill you!’ That’s why Paul gives us this timely reminder: ‘Isn’t everything you have and everything you are sheer gifts from God? So what’s the point of all this comparing and competing?’ (1 Corinthians 4:7 MSG). One day King Nebuchadnezzar’s head got too big for his hat, and he boasted, ‘Look at this great city of Babylon! By my own mighty power, I have built’ (Daniel 4:30 NLT). But God interrupted his proud moment and stripped him of his kingdom, and he ended up losing his mind and living like a wild beast. Only when he repented and acknowledged that God was the ruler over everything, did God restore his sanity and his kingdom. Corrected, humbled, and enlightened, he knelt down and prayed, ‘I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes towards heaven, and my sanity was restored’ (v. 34 NIV 2011 Edition). Boasting is a form of insanity – don’t do it!

Elly's Thoughts....

Due to a research I am doing at the moment, I get to read so many journals and researches done by so many different people. Due to the volume I go through, I don't bore myself with the preliminaries. I just go straight to the methodology and findings. Today though, I read this more than once and not just that, I reflected on it and I am even sharing it here with you all. It sure made an impression maybe because I can relate to this. For me, greatness is discovering your purpose, knowing the goal and refusing to be distracted regardless of the knocks. Every knock I have had in life has been the catalyst for most of, if not all of the great things I have done. This blog is a product of one of the knocks I have had, but you will never see a trace of a hurting person at the time. That's because I knew right from start what the goal was and even though the timing didn't seem right, I set my eyes on the goal and didn't let the present hurt determine the content of my writing. That's because its always been Gods  plan to have me encourage via this means and I didn't let self stand in the way.  Its been 39 months since I started blogging, and I am thankful for all the lives this blog has touched.
*Discover your purpose*

Entrepreneur Minds....

All some people do at work is fight the culture, processes, policies etc.  I believe in speaking up for change and giving my opinion of why procedures and processes might not work even though they might have worked in the past especially because I believe in change and I love new and better ways of doing things. I have also watched the extinction of known brands who have rejected change. However, I have also learnt not to pick up every battle at work, rather I observe, learn and prepare myself for that time when I finally start my own enterprise and make sure that the downfall of my predecessors will surely not be my own undoing.... Todays Thoughts....

On a call with the creative director for ellyeleanor foundation Queen,  and we are planning for the upcoming Start the Spark, community outreach in March and I am getting insight from this smart lady as she keeps dropping a couple "True" words here and there. The older you get, the more you realise you need people to be real with you, regardless of how uncomfortable it might be.

Have a Fabulous February everyone...
