What is dying- Bishop Brent

Indeed nothing prepares anyone for the death of a loved one. And when it is a first degree family member, it is indescribable. You are never old enough, tough enough, spiritual enough or ready for death. Once it happens, it hits just as hard, like you never knew the word death ever existed.  Yesterday a colleague gave me a card and added this write up from Bishop Brent and the words have stayed with me...

Rhema...

A few days ago, as I was studying the scriptures I received this word from the Lord in Mk 4: 38

" Master don't you care if we drown"? That was the question the disciples asked Jesus when they felt that they were drowning. Actually after reading that bit of scriptures, I had a few questions that I equally asked. Lord don't you care about this and that and the other one, plus this other one....

But in the midst of it all, I realised that in spite of all the questions I asked, which I might receive answers to or never receive answers to, what matters is that He is in the boat with me and at that point, I came to a place of rest. Coming to a place of rest however does not just happen. It requires a determination to believe in the face of what we call reality that might be really daunting, a resolve to be still regardless of the raging of the storm, it requires believing in what we know from the word of God even when it seems the foolish thing to do. Just because we know that the foolishness of God is wiser than man! May God give us grace to remain!

At this point, I remembered my Anglican hymns which I miss from time to time & thanks to God for the rescue. Those hymns remain classics 🙂
