L E A R N !

These are my exact thoughts at the moment....

I was speaking to some young individuals today and I told them "regardless of what you do, if you decide to go on to University or get an apprenticeship or end up just working, make sure you keep Learning". Funny as I spoke to them, I also spoke to me!

Just do it!

I have  keenly watched the French elections since Hilary Clinton lost solely because Marie Le Pen just wouldn't stop! Anyways when it comes to politics as a matter of principle, I don't pen down everything I think for personal reasons but this guy...... out of nowhere....

But all of a sudden, this  bloke: 39 year old investment banker takes us by storm! Emmanuel Macron!

Now the bit I actually love is the fact that he seems to be the least experienced and has been in politics for nothing compared to his rivals. But again, when we think we know the answers.... Life gives us a different response.
As I sat glued to my screen yesterday and earlier today, I asked myself how many things I have put on hold because I felt I was inexperienced? How many offers I have ignored because I felt I wasn't good enough, how many dreams I have let slip away because I felt overwhelmed just by the thought of these dreams.....
But all the time, we keep seeing that if we dare to aim high, to push ourselves, to be passionate about what we believe, and not mind how unpopular our views might be, we might just set a record that takes precedence..
I speak to "You" and "I"..... those dreams are valid! Hold on!  and like Nike says "Just do It"

Learn from others...

One of my personality traits is that I am very observant and I read people quite easily even via pictures lol(freaking out?). This has proved really beneficial and has its down side sometimes but most importantly, it helps me learn from others. I have had to work with bosses who I felt at the time I really disliked but once I could sense that they were quite smart, I put emotions aside because I was determined to know what they knew and its always paid off!
Today my advice is LEARN just LEARN & please learn the RIGHT stuff!

Certain people can make us feel ‘less than’ when we’re in their company, but truly wise and mature people never try to do that. If you’ve had a bad experience with this, don’t allow it to drive you back in defeat. If you don’t stand near a ruler, you won’t be able to measure your growth or monitor how much you’ve developed. Whatever successful people know, they haven’t always known it - they had to learn and grow too. So don’t pretend you know what you don’t know. It’s best to speak genuinely and sincerely, asking questions when appropriate. Most successful people enjoy a chance to discuss and share what they know, so take advantage of this. Fear of rejection keeps us from going forward in life and in relationships. You’d be surprised how many people limit themselves to socialising only with those who are comparable to them. They feel uncomfortable the moment they’re surrounded by people who are different from them. An important part of your development occurs when you decide to cross the tracks and relate to people who are ahead of you in some way. These relationships create a chance for you to grow. It’s not wrong to lack knowledge; it’s wrong to be unwilling to learn. Joshua learned the principles of good leadership from Moses. Ruth learned how to find the right relationship by listening to Naomi. Make this Scripture a guiding principle of your life: ‘Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding.’- Prov 3: 13

Buona Pasqua!

Two of my Italian friends sent me Easter felicitations. One sent his in English and the other is just a show off and sent it in Italian 'Buona Pasqua' so that's why I am equally trying to show off here lol!

Without Jesus Christ's resurrection, our faith as born again Christians becomes invalid.
My favourite verse for some time now has been "Christ in me, the hope of glory"- Col 1: 27.
The message of Easter, is that of love and surrender.
The question is do you love God enough to surrender your "ALL" to him?
May God give us the grace to be more like Him, in the way we live our lives, the choices we make, the way we treat people and the way our beliefs are shaped.
Have a lovely Easter!

Today's thoughts....

We think we know what we are doing, we've got it all figured out.But the deeper we go...... we find out that we have been chasing illusions, while we left the things that really mattered....
To man belongs the plans.... but the answer is from God. (Prov 16 : 1)
Do you have a relationship with God?

You're Qualified!

I just love the UCB devotional(http://www.ucb.co.uk/word-for-today-46515.html). I can't say it enough. Few days ago, I wrote a post that says 'Do not conform' and when I read this on UCB, it was obvious God was trying to say something. How often we try to fit in, when we are created to stand out. Its in our uniqueness that we make a difference & we bring so much warmth & refreshing to the people we meet along the way. Hope this blesses you as it blessed me.
1 Cor 1: 27- 'God has chosen'...

People are often drawn to us because of our difference, not our similarity. So don’t fail them by downplaying the things God has given you that qualify you to meet their needs. The disciples didn’t blend in, they stood out, and the world they lived in took note that ‘they had been with Jesus’ (Acts 4:13 KJV). They preached His message, used His methods, and demonstrated His miracles. At Antioch they were first called ‘Christians’ (Acts 11:26). That’s because they talked and acted so much like Christ. What a compliment! What a calling! What a challenge! Because a cleaning lady told a Syrian general about her God, he was healed of leprosy (see 2 Kings 5). Because Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams when others couldn’t, he saved the world from famine (see Genesis 41). Because a boy offered Jesus what he had - five loaves and two fish - a multitude of hungry people was miraculously fed (see Mark 6:34-44).

When it comes to hiring, personality profiling is a useful tool for discovering someone's suitability for a job. But it’s different in God’s kingdom. When God calls you, He equips you. Do you think you’re not qualified? Who told you that? Not God! His Word says: ‘God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise…the weak things…to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things…which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence’ (1 Corinthians 1:27-29 NKJV). So, the word for you today is - you’re qualified for the job!

The phone booth book shelf

I would have been living in my present flat for just about a year  in a couple weeks. Anytime I walk down, drive down, go for groceries etc I always pass this phone booth. Its just about 5 mins walk from mine actually and with such close proximity I get to see it almost on a daily basis. Some times I see people drop books in it, take books from it, stop to take a few pictures or just stop & stare at it for a few seconds. Living in this area however, I have never done any of that. Like seriously??😞
The gym I use is about 1 mile from mine and it takes me about 20 mins to walk to the gym. On my way back today I decided to stop by and have a look and I even picked up a book! Yay!! lol!

Some people live their lives complaining of every single thing. They complain of  the pressures of living in a big city, the government, taxes, immigration, racism, cuts, redundancies and it just goes on. I live in a big city, so fast paced and I have been to several cities quite chilled and easy but you know what? I am enjoying my present state, enjoying the benefits that come with living in a big city, I get hurt when those taxes come out of my account, when the bills come through the door but you know what? I don't think about it for too long. Its a choice! And as I took the book from the phone booth today, I am again thankful for living in a big city. If tomorrow comes and my situation changes and I have to move, I will still enjoy it. Its a decision! 😊.

Have any comments about your city? Please share...

Myanmar: Aung San Suu Kyi (Journalism & Politics)

I try hard to stay away from commenting & writing on political issues for several reasons. I however listened to this interview with so much interest. I actually had to listen to it thrice. I am not a political analyst but I will pick a few things which resonated with me 1. She listed her achievements which for me are quite a big deal coming from a developing country but for Fergel, he acted like it was not good enough and went on to highlight the shortcomings in her leadership. 2. This woman might be a leader but there's a lot that comes with politics that even the greatest leader is faced with which always proves a major challenge 3. The UN wants to conduct a 'Fact Find' but again I recall the UN activities in Syria and I will just leave this here 4. Resources are limited, when she resumed Power she invited a UN commission by Kofi Anan even before these attacks took place to draft a commission to help them find long term solutions to the ethnic tensions even before the present conflict (The right move if you ask me) 5. Sometimes I really wonder the purpose of interviews because most times the voice of the interviewer screams louder than the voice of the interviewed. Now why would the West want to compare her with Margaret Thatcher, Mother Theresa or Gandhi?? But again, we will only know what the media decides to show us: So any opinion formed is actually not holistic. What are your views I liked her responses and composure all the same....

Gratitude!

Have a good day y'all...😊

Domestic Violence

I was watching the BBC evening news yesterday and the conversation was going on about domestic violence. I was however shocked by the stats for several reasons. I am of African descent raised in Nigeria and recently the death tolls of women who have been killed by their husbands have been on an all time high. Anytime I hear or read a story, I wonder how vile humans have become to commit all these heinous crimes. Little did i know that right in my doorsteps, it is also happening.

Please if you are in this category don't die in silence contact these people  http://www.refuge.org.uk
Stay safe everyone!

Today's Thoughts...

Lots of people screaming hard-work everywhere but how many people are really working hard? Even some individuals obtain funds by ways considered dubious, and scream "hard-work" whilst trying everything to make the money look legit😕( To thyself be true!)

Do not conform...

Do not conform....... This has resonated on my mind since I listened to Rick Warren earlier today. As I walked down from the gym, I kept asking myself what distinguishes a person who has an intimate relationship with God from someone else who just knows God's name?
In today's world, the church/Christians try so hard to be acceptable by the world's standard. We speak the same language, have the same cravings, enjoy the same jokes, watch the same TV programs both edifying and non-edifying but we scream God more than the rest. 😟

Few weeks ago I got so hooked with the series Power. I actually really loved it. But as I watched it, I kept asking myself what is there to learn from this? Now the sex scenes in power are just too much if you ask me. At some point, I told a friend who was with me on one of the days, this is virtually soft porn. Now for the first episode, it felt a bit uneasy, but as I got to the 2nd season, I was practically immune to the scenes. Someone might say "Oh please its just entertainment" but the truth is that we cant fill our minds with junk and expect our characters to reflect the opposite.

Have we become so consumed with watching debauchery, blood shed, violence and foul language that we have numbed our senses to the extent that we can't tell when the holy spirit speaks? Today when you look at the social media page of Christians and even pastors and senior leadership in churches, you cant tell the difference between their pages and the page of an individual who barely has a relationship with God.

God calls us 'Light' for a reason. Be Different..
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will". RM 12: 2
