I follow very few people on social media. And before I follow anyone, they have to be sensible or funny! Adam Grant, is one person I have followed on social media and it is always refreshing reading from him. This is his perspective on self worth which I totally agree with.

Reflections
This year has really been challenging for everyone. The challenge we face however differs from person to person but in all, no one is spared from life's challenges. This is just a reminder to go through yours with grace...
The sun will shine again...

Evil thrives..
A lot is going on in our world today. The truth is that injustice is not novel to our society. From prehistoric times, humans have done evil and every man has the capacity to do evil.
A lot of times, we sit on the sidelines and watch, because we think we are not directly affected or sometimes we deliberately feign ignorance because its the lazy and easy way out, sometimes for selfish reasons or the fear of "not being accepted". However if we continue to keep quiet, just very soon, the same evil will be at our doorsteps and we will have nowhere to run...
No society, organisation or even family has ever prospered by being silent to injustice...
Speak the truth, do it the right way & most importantly at the right time!
Evil will continue to thrive until inaction gives way to action!

Easter
Easter of 2020 will go down as a very painful one in history due to the pandemic. The amount of lives lost every day due to people succumbing to the virus is alarming! The very first time we hear a high number of deaths, we are startled! However with time, unfortunately we become accustomed to hearing these numbers...
Be reminded that these numbers are actually reported, meaning the deaths are actually more... real humans, real deaths, real losses, real pain..
The pandemic has taught us various lessons.... one being that we are powerless regardless of who we think we are, what we think we have & where we think we are located...
For those of us who are Christians, it reminds us that the arm of flesh will indeed fail us (Jer 17:5) and now more than ever we need to put our confidence in God...
My prayer today is that as the resurrection brought light & hope, may the light of God illuminate our hearts & lives especially in areas where we have experienced so much darkness. May the hope that His resurrection brought, give us hope to live our lives with heaven in view as we realise that we can either become instruments of good or instruments of destruction.
May we realise what truly matters and may we never go back to living our lives the "way we have always been"
Wishing you & yours a peaceful Easter.

Work on your self-image
If you pay frequent visits to this blog, you should know that UCB's word for today is my favourite devotional. The messages are ever so timely. This is yesterday's which I was supposed to post. The link is also beneath the post in case you want to read more or even subscribe.
Iyanla Vanzant said, ‘Everything that happens to you
is a reflection of what you believe about yourself. We can’t…draw to ourselves
more than we think we are worth.’ That means how we see ourselves determines
the kind of relationships we establish. Many of us harbour a low sense of self-esteem.
We deem everyone else as being more important than ourselves and think meeting
their needs is more important than meeting our own needs. We compare ourselves
and allow others to determine who we are, and become dependent on their
approval to prop up our identity.

But it’s a slap in the face to God to look at
another person and say, ‘I wish I were like them.’ God made you for His own
purpose, that you might reflect a unique aspect of His glory. As believers in
Christ, we’ve been given a new identity as children of God. We weren’t created
to live dependently on any other person. Rather, God is restoring us to the
image of His Son and making us whole (see 2 Corinthians 3:18). In Him we don’t
ever need to be afraid to be who we really are. It’s time to develop a true
opinion of yourself based on the truth that God made you exactly, precisely,
intricately, wondrously, and uniquely you – a one-of-a-kind creation for which
there’s no comparison. The psalmist wrote: ‘You…scheduled each day of my life
before I began to breathe…How precious it is, Lord, to realise that you are
thinking about me constantly!’ (Psalm 139:16-18 TLB).

On replay...
We are in very uncertain times and we need to guard our peace consciously or the doom and gloom will drive us into a state we never thought we could be. One thing is certain, it will get better... today, tomorrow, next week, next month... it will surely get better at some point.

Today's reflection
I am a deep thinker and every single event spurs the reflective segment of my mind (if there's anything like that 😄)
Some time last year, I discovered Morgan Harpen Nichols on IG & her writing reflects my style.
I must say she has been a blessing.
Here's a glimpse

Growth...
Even if you don't see it or feel it... just know that you are growing, you are improving, you are making progress regardless of how infinitesimal it may seem.
Don't underestimate the power of the process... it's all part of your success story...😊

The thing 'Argument'
For the past lets say 6 years, I have taken my personal development seriously. And by personal development I do not mean my career, that aspect of my life seems to be going seamlessly hahaha.
By personal development, I am referring to my perception of things, issues & people as well as my approach & response to situations, people & life in general. One of my favourite verses in the bible is Isa 26: 3 which says; "Perfect peace have those who love God & nothing shall make them stumble". To me, peace is most important because it forms the right environment for deep reflection, which most times leads to the right decision being made which is instrumental to success. In order words, I protect my peace with everything I have and I have learnt or rather still learning to trust God.
The question for you now is do you have peace?
Secondly argument is something I do not partake in. Its quite funny coming from a girl who could hold arguments & not let go until she won... But you know what, I realised, arguments are counterproductive because at that point, everyone's ego is acting up & even when the truth stares us in the face, we do not accept it due to pride but carry on arguing. You see why I do not get involved in arguments? When I sense, the ego as well as the environment getting charged, I just back out...
For me, it is not a cowards approach but true wisdom because I tell myself, "I will revisit this topic at a more appropriate time if it is necessary".
Again, people have their idiosyncrasies so it is quite difficult to have them changed via arguments. These mindsets take time to form, give people as well as yourself time to unlearn.
Finally I ask myself, what is the objective of this argument? If it is important, I do not want to ruin my chance at achieving it & if it is not... then why argue??
Few days ago, I had a deep conversation with a friend who means a lot to me and before the conversation, I actually made an audible prayer which was... "Lord give us the grace to listen to understand & not listen just to respond, to put ego aside & be humble enough to accept where we got it wrong" Did that conversation go well? It went fantastic because our hearts were ready & the environment was right. I am not there yet, but I am definitely making progress...
What is your approach to arguments? What areas of your lives are you working on? Are you making progress? Please feel free to share 🙂

Self Reflection...
I have not been writing as much... life has been happening and I actually miss being able to share my thoughts here on a variety of subjects. This year, I hope to improve because actually in addition to inspiring others through my writing, the ability to write down my thoughts is actually therapeutic for me. Oh Yes!😊
Can you believe its already 7 days into 2020? Well in some parts of the world.
Now reflecting on the past 7 days, what can you write down about you, your growth & your knowledge as well as what you have tried learning or unlearning?
The ability to reflect daily is actually key to change as well as improvement.
No one can do it better than you & the more honest you are to your personal self evaluation as you reflect, the easier it will be to bring about the much needed change.
I am a firm believer of the power of consistency as well as doing even the smallest things with the greatest efficiency because if success must be a lifestyle, then the habits which lead to success must be evident in all we do regardless of how infinitesimal we might consider them.
It is not just about doing great things but doing everything with the right attitude, determination, great attention to detail as well as efficiency in mind to bring about the desired change.
Again this year what do you need to achieve? It is much more than wishful thinking but reflection and strategy.
Do you need to learn a skill? Do you need to volunteer in order to learn the skill or broaden your network? Do you need to take courses? Do you need to join groups? What do you need to do?
Again what can you say about your 1st 7 days into 2020?
Feel free to share your thoughts...
