Verse of the day!

2 days ago as I observed my quiet time, I received Neh 3:20 as my rhema. However something funny happened not too long ago. I witnessed 'work place' politics gone wrong 😊.

I work so hard but when it comes to success, I know where it comes from or rather where I want mine to come from. Today trust your hustle but most importantly, trust God to give you 'Good' success.

Word for today...

I keep saying I will share my story..... and I definitely will. If you are observant though, I subtly do from time to time on the blog but the big launch is coming soon...😊

Today I received a message and part of the content was "strong woman, you inspire me". Now I get messages like this regularly but it always leaves me wondering "if  these individuals are really referring to me or someone else"....
Part of my response which has been my mantra for quite a while is...

Its funny just a few minutes ago I was chatting with an individual who was quite despondent and I said the exact same thing...😊

God's grace keeps us and brings us this far but our walk and work is still "a day at a time"...

Joke of the day- The beauty of complications

I will be taking a professional skills test soon. I equally have some colleagues who will be sitting for the same exam so we get to meet, as we undergo same training and share experiences and skills we've picked along the way to encourage each other.

Now we were attempting some practice questions and there were these really complicated/complex questions, and guess what? Your girl answered all the complicated questions correctly. And now we come to the simpler questions and then I begin to make silly errors.

One of my colleagues looked at my paper as we reviewed the answers and was astonished and goes "Elly you actually answered the complicated ones rightly and failed the simple ones like seriously"??  "It goes to show how your mind works; I am sure you just love complexities". At this point I couldn't help myself anymore and I just bursted out laughing and I added by saying "Simplicity is boring, but complications add so much spice to life". I said this with a wink and at this point we were both laughing uncontrollably but the look on her face said "I give up on you"! Lol!

But truly "Calm seas never produced excellent sailors" sometimes you gotta take the complexities of life head-on. What is the worst that can happen? you make a mistake that you learn from. Now some people might say that some mistakes are not worth the lesson, but the truth is that those mistakes only go to show that you were not as smart with your choices as you should have been and then you 'Learn' again.

Keep Moving....

I have been working on a research for quite some time now which has made  me write some papers. Now writing these papers initially was just a way to get my professor off my back (laughs) and secondly to have a foot to stand on when I am finally ready to face the dreaded viva.

However this has also meant that I have had to travel to present these papers in different countries, meeting different individuals and being able to have really intellectually stimulating conversations while building my network. Now this is the really fun bit (laughs)

Early hours of today however, I was trying to get the full version of an article and the process was quite long, requiring me to register and fill in my DNA & other bla bla bla (jokes, it was just long!)
When I finally completed the registration, it brought out an article that I had written 3 years ago and which 5 people from different parts of the globe had cited in their own research 😄 with the names and photos of these individuals and they needed me to confirm that I was the author. Now I was beyond shocked.

Now you might really be trying hard at that job, at that marriage, with that child, with that project, with your finances or just life in general and you feel that you are continually faced with a brick wall and making no impact. Please don't stop! Trust your hustle, one day and I mean very soon, you will begin to reap the reward.

Someone somewhere might just be getting blessed without your knowledge because of all the effort you are putting in. And when you finally find out, the feeling is so rewarding and even if you don't find out, you will have the fulfillment that comes from knowing that you gave life your best shot!

Travel light...

Sometimes we fill our lives with so much clutter which is unnecessary. Thinking of all that happened in Grenfell Tower where many lost lives, property & memories, you wonder if all the drama & strife we fill our lives with is worth it. As I read my devotional today, it summed it up with 2 words... 'Travel light'

The Gifts of the Spirit...

We desire so many things in this life. The drive to succeed at everything we get our hands on, is a force that proves unstoppable for some of us. We want the best things in life and really our desires if you ask me are valid. But when was the last time you 'Earnestly' desired the gifts of the spirit?(1Cor 12:1-11)

If we seek the Lord with all our heart, we will find Him... Jer 29:13

Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? Lam 3:37,one of my favourite verses. In the midst of all the uncertainty, pain and terror surrounding me, He has given me a song! And I am still singing...May God comfort those who have had their lives changed forever due to the incidence in London. We are still praying, darkness will never prevail!

You Belong To God!

‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you…You are Mine.’

Isaiah 43:1

When God redeems you, He owns you. And what He owns, He protects! This is illustrated in the story of Belshazzar. The Bible says: ‘King Belshazzar held a great feast for his one thousand nobles…heady with the wine, [he] ordered that the gold and silver chalices his father Nebuchadnezzar had stolen from God’s Temple of Jerusalem be brought in so that he and his nobles, his wives and concubines, could drink from them’ (Daniel 5:1-2 MSG). Now, if they’d just abused some worthless old cup it might not have mattered, but God valued these sacred vessels too much to let them be mishandled. So out of the invisible sleeve of the night, the finger of God wrote the fate of Belshazzar on his palace walls. ‘That same night…Belshazzar was murdered. Darius the Mede…succeeded him’ (vv. 30-31 MSG).

As a redeemed child of God, here’s an unchanging principle you can stand on: ‘He permitted no man to do them wrong…saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones”’ (1 Chronicles 16:21-22 NKJV). You may have to fight on foreign soil, work at home in a difficult situation, or endure hardship for your faith. But you can be sure of one thing – God has too much invested in you to let you be destroyed. And any time Satan tries, God will interrupt his party and say, ‘This vessel is off limits – it took Me too long to teach this woman to pray…I’ve invested too many years training this man how to overcome…They’ve endured too much for My name’s sake for Me to let you harm them. Take your hands off them; they’re Mine!’
